We Tried So You Don’t Have To – Covergirl Oh Sugar Lip Balm + Plumpify Mascara

Recently, thanks to Covergirl and Influenster, I had the pleasure to test some newly released products: Colorlicious Oh Sugar! Vitamin Infused Balm and the Plumpify blastpro by Lashblast Mascara. I’d say I’m an experienced lip balm user but very new to the mascara game, so I was in a perfect position to test out these two products as both an experienced user and an amateur.

Colorlicious Oh Shugar! Lip Balm, $9.50:

OhSugar

This lip balm includes nourishing ingredients like “grapeseed oil, avocado butter, and Vitamins C & E that makes the lip balm both delicious smelling and leaves your lips soft and nourished”. Currently, this product is offered in 10 scented shades. A few of my favorite shades include: Spice 5, Soda 7, Taffy 4, and Candy 2. The color I am reviewing specifically is Caramel 3.

My experience with this lip balm has been absolutely amazing. I’ve used too many lip balms that call themselves “nourishing” but turns out dry and make my chapped lips stand out even more. I’ve learned from so many negative experiences to put on regular lip balm before applying their so called “lip balm”. BUT, this Oh Sugar lip balm has been both nourishing and colorful. The nourishing effect stays for a few hours and the more (frequently/consistently) I use it, the softer my lips become. As for color, it stays on for about an hour or two. Although, the color I got was more conservative and less bold which means it’s less apparent as the day goes on. I’d assume the bolder reds will show / stay for much longer than the pink shades. If you’re looking for bolder colors, I’d recommend shades: Punch 6, Spice 5 or Soda 7.

Overall, this has been one of the best and high quality lip balms I’ve ever used both for nourishing effects and for color. I will definitely continue using this product and would absolutely recommend this lip balm both for color and for nourishing effects.

Plumpify Blastpro By Lashblack Mascara, $10.49 (Prices may vary):

Plumpify

I’ve not had a lot of experiences with trying out mascaras. Generally, I prefer extending mascaras over volumnizing mascaras since I have more dense but short eyelashes. However, I have used a few Covergirl volumizing mascaras. I’m reviewing the Plumpify in very black shade. Plumpify, as a “volumizing mascara, has a specialized, double-action brush that vertically lifts lashes from their roots, guaranteeing plumping without the clumping”. This product comes in 3 shades: black 805, very black 800 and black brown 810.

Usually, I tend to get lighter shades of mascara due to my light color hair/lashes, so using this darker shade really made my lashes pop. It did an amazing job darkening and volumizing my lashes. To me, this double – action brush was new and was extremely interesting to use. The product did a great job creating fuller lashes effect (is it due to the dual brush technology? 😛 )

On the flip side, I did experience a little bit of clumping. Not sure if it’s a first time use problem or it will be a more consistent issue, but it only reassured my need for extension mascaras rather than volumizing ones (again, my lashes are dense but short).

Overall, if you are looking to create a fuller lash effect, Plumpify would be a great product to try out. The double brush is new and interesting and the volumizing effect was clear. However, I would not recommend this product if you are looking to lengthen your lashes.
